This course spans advanced mechanical sciences theory, simulation and practice. Using industry standard software you will develop complex models to simulate topics such as multibody dynamic systems; thermo-fluid systems and advanced stress and structure simulations. Failure mechanisms inreal-worldsystems and components will be investigated through fatigue analysis; you will also examine multi-body dynamic systems and turbulent fluid dynamic motion. Your chosen specialist Masters project makes upone thirdof the overall course.
You will also learn from industry case studies. All units provide real-world engineering problems, case studies and practical techniques using state-of-the-art hardware and the latest, industry-standard software for design, experimentation and evaluation. The units typically have a good balance of practical and theoretical work. Much of the practical work is computer based.

About the Course
Our engineering Masters programmes are designed to meet the needs of an industry that looks to employ postgraduates who can learn independently and apply critical thinking to real-world problems. Many of the staff who teach in the School also have experience of working in the industry and have well-established links and contacts in their industry sector, ensuring your education and training is relevant to future employment.
This course starts in September 2017 and January 2018. Please note that January starters will have a course duration of approximately 15 months.
You will be assessed through a combination of written reports, oral presentations, practical assignments and written examinations.
A minimum of 2:2 UK Honours degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a branch of Engineering is normally required. Equivalent EU/international qualifications are also accepted. Other professional qualifications or unclassified degrees in Engineering or Science disciplines may be considered on merit and/or with relevant professional experience.
