Expertise in renewable natural resources - with a strong international focus

Master's Degree Programme (CBU) in Forestry is organized by The Finnish-Russian Cross-Border University (CBU) Consortium of four highly recognised universities in Finland and in Russia. It is based on bilateral and international collaboration in the fields of forest and environmental sciences with aims to promote the ecologically and socially sustainable use of nature resources. As well as teaching based on high level scientific research the aim of our programme is to develop your cross-cultural understanding and knowledge of different working environments. The working language is English, and the studies are made both in Finland and Russia. The extent of these two-year long studies is 120 ECTS points.

Competence in cross-border working environment

Our programme provides you with knowledge and skills, which enable you to serve multinational organizations in the field of creating rational strategies and operations especially for territories and forests of Finland and Russia, in particular, but also worldwide. We provide you high quality and diversified training in forestry and bioenergy, with emphasis on social and ecological sustainability.

How to apply to CBU FOR?

The Master's Degree Programme (CBU) in Forestry attracts many applications from prospective students every year. At UEF the application round opens each year in December for the studies starting in the following autumn. Will we be receiving your application this year?

Our application period at UEF will be open 1 November 2018 and 31 January 2019 at 15:00 (GMT +2). Please click on the links on the left to learn more about our eligibility and admission requirements.

We will inform all applicants of their acceptance/ rejection by 5 April 2019. Please note that we won't be able to answer any queries related to your application status before that date, so please be patient, you will definitely hear from us in due course of time.

Note: Our university has partnered with University Admissions Finland during previous application rounds, but our applications are not processed at University Admissions Finland during the application round 2018/2019.

CBU FOR studies

The Master's Degree Programme (CBU) in Forestry is a two-year programme. Each student has a home university where he/she graduates when the studies are completed. When your home university is UEF, you will be awarded a Master of Science (Agriculture and Forestry) degree.

During the two years you'll be spending with us, you'll get to know our excellent staff members and you'll be spending a lot of time in our state-of-the-art learning environments. Our programme comprises lectures, course work, projects and independent study both in Finland and in Russia.

Tuition fees

The Master's Degree Programme in CBU FOR does not charge tuition fees from citizens of EU/EEA countries. However, following a decision by the Finnish Government, tuition fees will be charged from citizens of non-EU/EEA countries from autumn 2017 onwards. For non-EU/EEA students required to pay tuition, the University of Eastern Finland offers a generous and attractive scholarship scheme, which can cover their tuition fee either in full or partially. Please see the "For non-EU/EEA students" page for further information.
