About This Masters Degree
The MBA (Education) provides the knowledge and skills required for career preparation for management positions in the education sector. As with the other MBA pathways, it develops competencies across a spectrum of management areas, but also contextualises understanding of the education sector. This programme is designed to appeal to you if you aspire to, or already, hold a management role in a school or college and feel the need for a more substantial underpinning for your ideas and perspectives offered by the MBA (Education) programme.
MBA (Education) students follow a common core programme of modules with other MBAs within the Business School, which provides a sound basis for leading and managing organisations. Two additional compulsory modules are taken which are specific to the chosen sector. 'Managing Structural Reform in Education' promotes analysis and discussion of the current policy context for education and the practical implications for managers. 'Curriculum Design and Strategy' provides a sound basis for understanding how the curriculum can be conceptualised and designed in ways that promote effective teaching, learning and assessment within a democratic society. The capstone will be an education-focused research-based dissertation, business case or company project.
