The Masters by thesis Development Studies degree is usually completed over a two-year period in the course of which a candidate will produce a substantial piece of academic research on a relevant topic. The Admissions Committee for this programme assesses all candidates. Arising from this assessment a tailored programme of work is devised for each student, taking account of his or her knowledge, skills base and research interests. All candidates must write a thesis under the direction of a supervisor. Students are encouraged to base their dissertations on topics of direct professional concern to themselves.
