Master of Social Work (Qualifying)


Course Description

The Master of Social Work (Qualifying) prepares students to practice as accredited professional social workers in a range of fields including health and mental health, corrections, community work, aged care, women’s services, disability, child and family services, migrant and refugee services and international development. Applicants should have a previous Bachelor’s degree and extensive work experience in the human services field. Drawing on Australian and international perspectives, the program aims to graduate students able to take leadership roles in the social work profession, the health and community services sector and other fields of practice. The content of the MSW (Qual) is based on the values set out in the AASW Code of Ethics and the AASW Practice Standards. A commitment to social justice is a core value of the University of Sydney Master of Social Work (Qualifying).
