The Bloomberg School’s Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) degree programs are professional degree alternatives to the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree for students who want more focused skills in a specific field of public health or who lack two years of health related work experience in order to begin or advance a career as a public health professional. The MSPH degree program combines intensive, focused coursework with field experience – providing students the opportunity to integrate their academic training with real-world public health practice.

At a minimum, MSPH students complete four terms of full-time coursework, a written culmination such as an essay or other written exercise, and an internship appropriate to their program.

Since individual departments at the Bloomberg School offer the MSPH program, be sure to contact your department of interest or the contact the Admissions Office for more information.

Note: Beginning with the 2010-11 academic year, the names of degree programs previously designated as professional MHS degree programs were changed to MSPH degree programs. Admission and graduation requirements, and educational objectives remained the same. The name change is not retroactive.
