The College of Business is ranked as the thirteenth best program for Undergraduate studies in the United States. The University of Illinois was just ranked #1 for Public Universities in the Midwest for Best ROI

Illinois MSF Program: a CFA Program Partner
The ILLINOIS Master of Science in Finance program has been officially named a CFA Program Partner®. As such, the MSF curriculum covers more than 70% of the CFA Body of Knowledge and teaches student the tools they need to prepare for and be successful with the CFA exams. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) certification is a professional designation awarded by CFA Institute. The professional investment community recognizes the value of the CFA certification to support hiring and promotion decisions. For more information, visit the CFA Institute and CFA Review Program websites.

The MSF program has an innovative curriculum that provides you with a strong foundation in the principles and practices of finance. The program also introduces you to the emerging concepts, practices, and technologies necessary to be successful in today’s finance industry. The fifteen month program begins in August of each year.

The Illinois MSF is a generalist graduate program in finance. The MSF program begins in August each year and is completed in three semesters (fall, spring, fall). Most core courses would be completed in the first fall semester; however, dependent upon a student’s background and career goals, some core courses may be substituted or taken in the spring semester.

Admitted students with considerable experience in Finance may elect to complete their studies in two semesters (fall/spring) with the approval of the Program Director. Criteria for approval includes, but is not limited to, academic qualifications, work experience, GMAT/GRE scores, and communications skills. As the MSF program is designed to be completed in three semesters, the two semester option will be offered only after careful consideration by all parties.

In addition to the core courses, you will select courses to customize your degree. Generally, students take most of their electives in areas of finance, but some take a few electives in other disciplines. Most students choose to follow a specialization track in one or more of the three most popular areas in the program: Corporate Finance, Asset Management, or Quantitative Finance.

However, the breadth of electives makes the Illinois MSF a unique program for students who are interested in specializing in other areas of finance, such as Commercial Banking, Risk Management, and Real Estate.
