Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Nutrition


Course Description

Overview

TWU graduate students who seek an MS in Exercise and Sports Nutrition (ESN) take a variety of courses in nutrition and kinesiology. This program will train students to help bring about lifestyle changes in exercise and nutrition habits for individuals and groups. It can provide students with opportunities to acquire strong research skills if desired and all students will have applied learning experiences in both the classroom and in health-related settings.

Program Description

This program will train students to help bring about lifestyle changes in exercise and nutrition habits for individuals and groups. It will also provide students with opportunities to acquire strong research skills and applied learning experiences in both the classroom and in health-related settings. Graduates of the program may work in:

private practice
hospitals
clinics
rehabilitation centers
government agencies
public schools
professional and amateur sports teams
university/collegiate athletics

Additional Entry Requirement Information

Official transcripts that provide evidence of prerequisites or the equivalent of undergraduate courses in exercise physiology (KINS 3601, 3602), exercise testing and prescription (KINS 4701, 4702), advanced exercise physiology (KINS 4601, 4602), human anatomy and physiology (ZOOL 2041, 2043, 2051, 2052), biochemistry (CHEM 3603), elementary nutrition (NFS 2323), advanced nutrition (NFS 3101, 4302, 4303), and one additional upper division three hour nutrition course (NFS 3163, for example).

Two letters of recommendation and a 1-2 page statement of intent providing evidence of work and volunteer experience related to intended field of study and goals

Entry Requirements

BS degree in Kinesiology or Nutrition, or its equivalent.GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework with a major in either Kinesiology or Nutrition.Evidence of completing the GRE with a preferred minimum score of 140 (400 original) on the quantitative portion and 153 (500 original) on the verbal portion.
