- Development - Global Media and Communication - Governance - Security Students may also choose a specialization in Religious Studies.
Skills: Skills For Impact Modules
Throughout the two-year program, MPA students participate in a series of Skills For Impact modules where they learn the essential skills they will need to succeed in a dynamic global environment. Some of the topics of the skills modules include:
• Advocacy • Communication • Crisis and Risk Management • Negotiation • Personal Leadership • Policy Writing • Project Management • Strategic Leadership
Practice: Passion Project
One of the unique features of the MPA program is the Passion Project — an opportunity for students to apply their theoretical knowledge and skills while gaining hands-on experience. Passion Projects are student-led, policy-oriented capstone projects. Teams of students work together throughout the two-year program for clients around the world to address challenges, identify opportunities, and/or conduct research on a pressing social question.
Students complete a required summer internship between the first and second years of the MPA program. Internships last a minimum of six weeks and provide students with substantive policy-related experience. Students can perform their internships with any organization in the world.
SPP is proud to be one of eight leading universities whose students may participate in the competitive Open Society Internship for Rights and Governance (OSIRG).
