Course Description

Biomedical engineers apply engineering principles to understand, modify or control biological systems, and develop technology to monitor physiological functions and to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering, encompassing areas of electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering. The Master of Professional Engineering (Biomedical) is a three year full-time course delivering technical and professional outcomes that will allow you to be recognised as an Australian graduate engineer in this field. This degree program has been accorded full accreditation at the level of Professional Engineering by the industry governing body, Engineers Australia. If your bachelor's degree included foundational engineering units, you may be given advanced standing and be eligible to enrol either in a reduced length graduate certificate or directly into the Master of Professional Engineering. Entry pathways are available for students with widely varying backgrounds. In this course you will engage in areas of study including biomaterials engineering, computational nanotechnology, manufacturing engineering, and fluid mechanics. You will also have the opportunity to complete either an engineering project or research at the end of the course.
