Find out more about the Master of Management parent structure.

What is it like?

If you do not have previous communication experience, but have found yourself a manager of communications staff, or if you are looking at moving into a management role in the communications area, Massey’s Master of Management (Communication) will give you the in-depth knowledge and skills you need.

Communication is about understanding and strategically managing all communication channels within an organisation.

This is a constantly growing area, with social media, web, text, chat and apps giving increasing numbers of ways to communicate to both an external and internal audience. A role in communication management can be very demanding and involves an ability to multi-task and constantly re-prioritise. It is a vital role within an organisation, helping the effectiveness of all communication channels.

This qualification is very focussed on communication versus some of our other postgraduate qualifications that look at communications in a broader context.

You do not need previous qualifications in communication management to study a Master of Management.

The workload replicates the high-pressure environment of senior workplace roles. Our experts are there to guide but you will find that this programme demands more in-depth and independent study.

If you wish to progress to a PhD upon completion, you should enrol in a Master of Business.

Take less of your time

The Master of Management is a 180 credit programme, so you can complete this qualification in 1.5 years of full-time study. If you study part-time the qualification takes between 2.5 and five years.
