Course content

A Master of Environmental Science and Technology will prepare you for managing environmental projects, and provides a broad understanding of disciplines relevant to environmental science, with the opportunity to study specific areas in-depth.

The knowledge and skills you gain will be incorporated into an industry relevant research project.

As a future manager in environmental science, you'll be expected to design and manage projects in an ethical fashion and be able to communicate with a wide range of audiences.

Development of these attributes will be an integral part of your progression through the program. In this coursework degree, you will study the chemical, physical and biological interactions that occur between the different parts of the earth’s environment and develop knowledge and skills in fundamental sciences and technologies. You will gain a broad understanding of science disciplines, combined with more in-depth knowledge in a specific science.

What you will study
The Master of Environmental Science and Technology will consist of 192 credit points of postgraduate coursework that will include 48 credit points of research. It includes exit points for the Graduate Diploma (after completing 96 credit points).

In your first year, you will undertake compulsory core courses to acquire the skills needed to operate as a professional in the environmental sector, manage projects and carry out research. You will also participate in classes and workshops in the fundamental sciences and technology and be exposed to new and developing sustainable technologies and environmental protection methods.

In the second year, you will undertake a research project in an area which is of specific interest to you. In addition you will study a set of science and technology electives of your choice.
