Master of Business Administration (Specialisation)

Course Description

The MBA (Specialisation) at the Tasmanian School of Business & Economics is all about building a community of leaders. The overarching purpose of the Master of Business Administration (Specialisation) or MBA(S) is to develop graduates who have the capacity to become professional managers and leaders in the following specialized fields:

The MBA(S) equips you with knowledge and understanding of key business operations and current trends in organizations - both strategic and operational. It enables you to pursue a range of high level leadership roles within private, public, and community sector organisations.
The MBA(S) is a 16 unit course, which you can study full time or part-time. The course aims to provide flexible study options with face-to-face contact, block teaching and online study opportunities. This course is full fee-paying, which means that you will be charged at the full fee-paying rate listed for each unit.
The MBA(S) includes opportunities to engage in overseas study tours as well as internships with leading Tasmanian organizations.
You will discuss your individual study pathway with the MBA Director and this will be based on your background or previous studies.

Course Abbreviation

For entry into the MBAS, international students must provide an IELTS test score of at least Band 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 on all bands or a TOEFL score of 600 with a Test of Written English score of no less than 4.5. This test must not be more than 24 months old.

English Language Requirements
International applicants will be required to provide evidence of their English language ability.
For those applicants who are nationals of and currently residing in a country where English is NOT the official language, evidence of an IELTS or TOEFL test must be provided.
Alternatively, applicants can provide evidence that English has been the sole medium of instruction and examination in their most recent studies, for a minimum of 2 years, and within the last 24 months. Academic transcripts and a letter from your institution will be required.

Entry Requirements

Completed an undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution; OR completed the Graduate Certificate of Management or Graduate Diploma of Business Administration of the University of Tasmania or an equivalent award of another Australian higher education institution. All applicants for the MBAS must provide a full curriculum vitae and admission may also include an interview at the discretion of the Dean or delegated Course Coordinator (MBA Director).
