The MA in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is designed for graduates with a primary degree, or postgraduate higher diploma, which included psychoanalytic topics as a major component. This two-year taught programme comprises a clinical specialisation and is designed to introduce students to clinical settings and practice as a basis for their on-going training in the field.
The programme consists of the following components:
A training based on six clinical placements of 10 or 20 week duration in mental health and educational settings supervised by senior mental health professionals.
Weekly Psychiatric Case Conference at St Vincent's Hospital followed by a Clinical Seminar.
A minimum of (2.2) in a Psychology or Arts degree from a recognised third level institution or equivalent qualification such as a Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Psychoanalytic Studies.
