Our Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) is the first medical school in Australia to offer credentialed sub-speciality, post-fellowship training. It is located next to Macquarie University Hospital, Australia’s only private hospital on a university campus. In other words, our researchers and teachers are given a uniquely high level of support.
The Master of Advanced Surgery (MAdvSurg) is a one-year, full time program that is ideally suited for those who have completed the Specialist Education Training (SET) program of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS, or equivalent) and who wish to acquire a university qualification demonstrating mastery of surgical competence in a particular specialisation, acquisition of life-long learning skills and a capacity for leadership.

This program is ideally suited to those who have completed the Specialist Education Training (SET) program of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS, or equivalent).
It is intended for doctors who wish to develop specific expertise in a surgical sub-specialty as well as research and leadership capabilities.
Applicants must have four years post-graduate experience, including evidence of a commitment to surgical training.
Applications from surgeons who are nearing completion of the SET program may be considered for admission, provided that they complete their RACS training prior to graduation.
