Customise your degree - the Master of Advanced Engineering offers flexibility to complete your Master degree in just one year, or you can choose a two year option.
This course is designed to extend your knowledge in your chosen specialisation area and advance your leadership and complex problem-solving skills in a cross cultural environment.
Understand, reflect critically upon and apply methods in at least one specialist engineering area to design solutions to complex, multifaceted engineering problems.
Common core units will develop crucial skills in areas such as data analysis and entrepreneurship, translating theory into engineering practice. In discipline core units you will identify, interpret and critically appraise current developments and technologies within your specialisation.
Enhancement units are designed to provide breadth and are taken from either another engineering specialisation or in complementary areas such as information technology and business.
In addition, the two year version of the program offers a range of technical electives that will deepen your understanding of a specific topic, and two, year- long engineering project units. You will work closely with an academic on a topic of your choice and immerse yourself in a multidisciplinary design project.
The Master of Advanced Engineering could also be your stepping stone to a research degree. All of this in highly interactive, expert led classes.
The course comprises 96 points structured into five parts, Part A. Common core units, Part B. Enhancement units, Part C. Technical elective units, Part D. Discipline core units and Part E. Engineering project units. All students complete Part A, Part B and Part D. Depending upon prior qualifications you may receive credit for Part C and Part E.
Part A. Common core units
These units are designed to establish IT literacy and develop essential skills that translate theory to engineering practice.
Part B. Enhancement units
These units are designed to provide breadth; either outside of the chosen engineering specialisation and/or in disciplines allied with, and supportive of engineering (namely Information Technology and Business).
Part C. Technical elective units
These units are designed to deepen your understanding of specific topics and advanced elements within your discipline.
Part D. Discipline core units
In this part you will identify, interpret and critically appraise current developments and advanced technologies, and apply knowledge within your discipline.
Part E. Engineering project units
In this part you will undertake two, year-long projects. The first is a research project, where you are invited to work closely with a faculty academic in their discipline, on a topic of your choice. The second is a design project developing a depth of design skills in your discipline.
Double degree courses allow you to study towards two different degrees at the same time, and graduate with two separate qualifications. And because a required subject in one course can count as an elective in the other, our double degrees take up to two years less than if you studied for the two degrees separately.
