Student Profile(s)

My undergraduate degree was in linguistics at York which is really different to this Masters! I love this course and have had the best time so far; I was initially apprehensive and worried about coming from a non-science background and being among scientists, but I love it and felt the transition was really smooth.

I love living in Cornwall. Cornwall itself is so beautiful and I love it. I’d never been here before but now I’m so happy I moved here. It is fantastic having all the beaches on our doorstep, especially for our course too as we are able to get out and explore and everything is really relevant.

I have so many favourite things about studying this course but even just moving to Cornwall and meeting a group of girls all doing the same course and all very like-minded with similar interests has been amazing. We are such a good group of friends now which I never would have had if I didn’t come to study in Penryn.

Doing this course has given me opportunities to get into this field and has opened up doors for me I wouldn’t have previously had. After finishing my MSc I really want to go into conservation outreach. I would love to raise awareness and talk and teach about marine conservation issues which relates to my research project that I’m doing at the moment. I’d love to set up my own business doing this.
