The course is particularly suitable for students from non-business subject areas who are intending to work in a business organisation and who would like to acquire professional management skills. You will cover most of the core areas of business including marketing, finance, operations, people management and strategy. There are also a wide range of options available to tailor study towards specific areas of interest.
The highlight of this course is the opportunity for you to study and research a topic area of your choice, either in the form of a dissertation or through an Applied Consultancy Project. This will allow you to gain real work experience as you’ll be working with a company or organisation, and familiarising yourself with the work environment. We also offer a Professional Skills module to engage you with the practical application of management theory, which could consequently enhance your personal and employability skills.
We use a range of teaching and learning approaches to help you develop your knowledge and skills; including seminars, tutorials, lectures and case studies. Modules have different teaching and assessment strategies, some modules are based on individual work and others on group work. Many aspects of teaching and assessment are grounded in real life situations and, where possible, live projects are incorporated into the teaching and use is also made of guest speakers who are mainly consultants from Strategic Planning Society (SPS).
