Innovation of your practice and the development of critically-informed perspectives are the guiding principles of our MA Photography Masters degree course.

You’ll be encouraged to develop a deep understanding of the professional, artistic and commercial contexts for your work.

Theory and practice

Working alongside students from other MA creative courses, you’ll join a community of artists and makers as part of a stimulating and active research environment. You will use state-of-the-art studios and digital darkrooms to develop your authorial voice in an advanced study of photographic practice.

Gain valuable exposure to industry

While the course is research based and practice-led, taught components consider contextual and theoretical aspects of photography: from collaboration, aesthetic/anti-aesthetic, technological determinism to the impact of emerging technologies.

Seminars and workshops will encourage you to explore the complex relationship between individual practice and client-led work – informed by NUA’s strong reputation in advertising, fashion, fine art and editorial photography. You will be working on a course with strong links to industry and professional bodies, including the Association of Photographers.
