There is a high demand from the industry for highly-skilled professionals with a strong understanding of regulation and compliance disciplines.

This programme introduces students to the critical role played by compliance and regulation in Global Markets. The programme will provide an outline of the fundamentals of regulatory framework as well as a more focused approach to compliance in various markets. The programme also provides a comprehensive inspection of the Compliance issues emanating in practice in global markets.

Students studying on the programme will have an exposure to the cutting-edge approaches in dealing with practical issues in compliance and regulation. The programme contains a range of both general and specialist modules in London, or Distance Learning, to tailor the programme to the student's specific needs. Students have the option of specialising in one of the following sectors:

  • Financial Institution
  • Data protection and Intellectual Property
  • Business and Insurance Law
  • Energy.

Structure

MA

The MA is available to study full-time for one year or part-time for 2-4 years in London.

The programme consists of four core modules, two electives, from a range of elective 'specialist' modules. Each module is worth 22.5 credits, except the dissertation (50% specialist case study and 50% 7,500 word essay) that is a 45 credits, with overall 180 credits. To qualify for one of the named specialist awards, the core and elective modules, and dissertation must be relevant to the chosen specialism.

A Distance Learning (DL) Option is also available in Data Protection and IP Specialisation. Students wishing to incorporate DL modules must choose three Distance Learning elective modules worth a total of 45 credits, instead of the two electives.

As a student at Queen Mary, you will play an active part in your acquisition of skills and knowledge. Teaching is by a mixture of formal lectures and small group seminars.
