The MA in Interpreting offers a high-quality, supportive teaching and learning environment that provides students with an advanced qualification enabling them to work at the highest professional level in a broad range of settings. A series of value-added activities and workshops enable students to acquire both subject-specific knowledge and the cognitive and transferable skills essential to a successful interpreting career. The course includes four taught modules: Principles and Practices of Interpreting, Research Contexts, Public Service Interpreting, and Commercial Interpreting. as well as a double-module dissertation. The programme will be offered in two language pairs: English/Polish and English/Mandarin.
Normally an upper second class honours degree or GPA of 3.3 or above in an appropriate field from a recognised institution. This may be supplemented by a minimum of 90 hours professional experience for those who hold a lower second class honours degree. It is anticipated that most BSL students will come via an agreed articulation with BMC (applicants must have Junior Trainee Interpreter Level 6, as defined in CILT’s UK Occupational Standards and Signature: View Website. Level 6 is the equivalent of an undergraduate degree).Suitably qualified nternational students will be welcomed (IELTS 6.5 English)
