Course content

Students take a “Sources and Skills” course which offers an introduction to the broad range of source-material available for the medieval historian, and the different skills required to analyse them. There is also a weekly class in medieval Latin for beginners, which gives students the basis for reading their source material in what is, for much of Europe, the original
language. No knowledge is required beforehand. In the second semester, students take a course on Medieval Dublin taught by Professor Howard Clarke. A 15,000 word dissertation concludes the programme.
