This is a taught programme, which is designed to enrich the student’s knowledge of Modern English Language and Literature and to enhance his/her professional competence. It leads to doctoral study in the field for suitably qualified graduates. Students must complete six modules and write a minor thesis.
Aims of the programme: • To widen and deepen student's knowledge and appreciation of English literature and contemporary critical theory • To familiarise students with traditional and modern technological sources for research in English literature • To equip students with the knowledge and skills required for doctoral studies • To enhance students' career opportunities
Modules will be delivered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the academic year from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. in Mary Immaculate College.
Applicants should have an honours primary degree with English as a final year subject. Other suitably qualified candidates may also apply. Applicants may be required to attend for interview. A minor thesis proposal should be submitted with the application.
