Course content

The aim is to develop a critical and analytical approach to the study of Islam and provide a greater insight into the sources and origins of Islamic thought, in particular the Qur’an and Sunnah, together with a knowledge and understanding of the life of the Prophet Muhammad and its contemporary significance. Compulsory modules are Islamic Studies: Qur’an and Sunnah; Life of the Prophet Muhammad; Research Methodology; Dissertation. Optional Modules include Islamic History; Islam and Pluralism; Gender Issues/ Family Life in Islam; Management of Mosques, Trusts and Endowments; Muslims in Britain; Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance; Islam in Europe; Muslim Thought.
