The MA in International Journalism is a full-time three semester programme covering the practice and theory of journalism in an international context. It is particularly suited to international students as, in contrast to the MA in Journalism, it does not assume knowledge of the Irish context. It prepares students to work on international new stories, whether for national or regional news organisations or with international news agencies or media organisations.
The minimum entrance requirement is an honours 2:2 degree or its equivalent in any discipline. Applicants for whom English is a second language must have a score of 7.5 overall in each components of the IELTS or equivalent. A demonstrable interest and commitment to journalism is a key criteria for selection.Where possible selection will be by interview. Otherwise, applicants will be required to complete a specific application form. This form should be accompanied by evidence of articles written or published and details of work in college publications, newspapers or radio, etc.
