Course content

The MA in Fine and Decorative Art offers an intensive immersion into the study of Old Master paintings, modern art, furniture and ceramics through case studies taken from the Renaissance through the later twentieth century. Secondary subjects which spring from these case studies include workshop practices and copying, the history of the art market and collecting, East-West exchange, and the globalized trade in luxury goods. Frequent visits to museums, galleries, auction sale previews, private collections and country houses form a fully integrated part of the teaching, along with sessions on techniques and handling art objects
