Course Description

This degree programme has a special focus on teaching contexts and is therefore ideally suited for the professional
development of English language teaching professionals. If you have at least two years of teaching prior to enrolling on the course, you are eligible for this programme.

We offer a large range of modules on our taught masters programmes, including sessions on research methodology, teaching practice and career development. You will be given the opportunity to display your research and analytical skills through a dissertation.

Modules

Students must take two compulsory modules:

Approaches to Language and Linguistics
Grammar and Discourse

Students must choose two optional modules from the following:

Research Methods in Applied Linguistic
Psychology of Language
Text, Talk and Corpus Analysis
The Globalisation of English
Sociolinguistics of Work

SPRING SEMESTER

Students must take at least two modules from the following:

Teaching Language and Literature
Language Testing and Assessment
Syllabus Design and Methodology 1

Students can choose one or two optional modules from the following:

Business and Organisational Communication
World Englishes: East and South-East Asia
Language and Gender
Literary Linguistics
Intercultural Communication

SUMMER

Dissertation

Ningbo Govt.International Student Scholarships for Acacemic Excellence - 15 Awards

There are approximately 15 scholarships of 30,000 CNY (approx 3,000 GBP) available for masters applicants.Students who would like to apply for this scholarship will need to prepare their documents and submit to the Recruitment & Admissions Office by 31st May 2015

Value of Scholarship(s)

GBP 3,000 (approximate based on exchange rate)

Eligibility

Candidates must have a 2:1 or higher (or equivalent) and meet English Language requirements.

Application Procedure

Students must complete a separate application and provide a separate personal statement in addition to applying for a Master's programme at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China High Achievers Scholarship - 20+ Awards

High academic achievers will be rewarded through a 20,000 CNY (approx. 2,100 GBP) scholarship towards their tuition fee.

Eligibility

All applicants are automatically assessed for an award. The top 25 applications (submitted prior to the deadline) will be made a scholarship offer.
