Course content

The aim of the course is to produce graduates with an advanced level of theoretical knowledge and practice, with highly developed research capability, innovation and entrepreneurial skills to enable their professional development in the IT industry. The course has been designed jointly by Dundalk IT and IT Tralee drawing on expertise available from both institutes.

The programme offers an up-skilling opportunity for practicing software developers who have worked in industry for a number of years and now wish to broaden or update their technical knowledge and formalize their management skills. The mandatory module on Entrepreneurship will focus on the development, management and commercialisation of software products. Recent graduates will also find the programme a natural and complimentary progression from their degree programme.

The course is delivered in a flexible mode allowing students to take the programme in full-time or part-time mode.

Mandatory Modules: Software Process Management, Software Design,Distributed Computing,Human Computer Interaction, Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship,
Research Methods and Professional Practice, Research Project

Elective Modules (Any 2): Document Engineering, Mobile Computing, Visualisation, High Performance Computing, Project Management, Enterprise Information Architectures (Electives offered subject to resource availability).
