Designed for the non-business graduate, this programme aims to provide participants with the range of knowledge and skills necessary to operate successfully in a business environment when combined with their primary degree. In this sense, it was what we call a “conversion”programme.
As employers increasingly require a strong combination of technical and managerial skills, this conversion course will enhance students’ employment opportunities. This qualification is offered in two parts. It commences with the Graduate Diploma which is offered on a full-time basis over one academic year. Those eligible to progress for the award of M.Sc. in Business Management will complete the programme in fifteen months.
A second class honours degree in a discipline other than business (or equivalent overseas qualification). Those for whom English is not their native language will be expected to have IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5.
Each module will be delivered through a mixture of lectures and seminars. Students will be supported in their learning through the provision of written and online course materials and ongoing access to academic support. Participants will be required to undertake a series of assignments that will include essays, group projects, case analysis and final examination.
Progression from Graduate Diploma to M.Sc. in Business Management
To be eligible for the award of Graduate Diploma in Business Management students must successfully complete the first two semesters of the programme. In general, students who achieve an overall grade of second class honours at this stage will be eligible to proceed to the M.Sc. Those proceeding to the M.Sc. qualification will not also receive the Diploma. The M.Sc. is awarded on successful completion of a research dissertation over an additional semester. Thus, students completing the diploma qualification will complete their studies in nine months; those pursuing the Masters qualification finish in fifteen months.
