Law is a fast-changing and increasingly complex area that impacts on most aspects of professional, commercial and regulatory work. This programme provides students with analytical and reflective skills and expertise in law. It provides a learning experience which will enable students to develop their academic ability and enhance their performance in employment and further develop their career opportunities. It provides the successful candidate with a recognised postgraduate qualification in law.
The LLM in Employment Law by distance/open learning is available to students from both a legal and non-legal background.
Students from a non-law background take Foundations of Law. Students with a law background take an additional option instead of Foundations of Law. All students take substantive law modules in Equality at Work and Collective Labour Law. A range of options is offered including Security of Employment and Privacy and Confidentiality of Information of which students must take either one or two. There is training in advanced legal research and the culmination of the programme is a 15,000 word dissertation.
