About the course

This course is for students with an undergraduate degree in any subject who want a qualification in linguistics. Students also write a research dissertation on a topic of their own choice. To help them achieve this, the programme has a compulsory module on Research Training which includes training in specific linguistic research and general social science research. This is complemented by research and transferable skills training from the University’s Graduate Training Programme. Students who have a BA in Linguistics may be exempt from compulsory modules which they have already covered as part of their first degree, or may prefer to follow one of the other MA courses offered by the School.
