  • Enhancing learning, teaching and assessment.

A flexibly way to study

The programme is delivered online. Our programme design is characterised by highly engaging learning materials and activities that focus on your practices and support your development.

You will be supported online, and enjoy the benefits of being part of a network of tutors developing a community of practice.

All essential resources, activities, videos, discussions and support are provided in the Virtual Learning Environment. This allows you to fit your studies around your working commitments.

Time commitment

The modules run from April to September and from October to March.

The weekly activities have been designed to be studied over 22 weeks, for approximately 10-12 hours per week per module.

Assessment is through coursework, and there are no examinations.

Career progression

This programme is ideal for those wishing to take on further responsibility as, for example, a Programme Leader or Curriculum lead.

In the UK, a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education is often required or desirable for those applying for HE roles.

The programme has been mapped against the UK Professional Standards Framework. You will have the opportunity to consider your own developing practice and may wish to use this programme to support an application to the Higher Education Academy at Associate or Fellow level.

Academic leadership

The programme team is comprised of five academics who are members of the University of London's Centre for Distance Education. The Centre provides an outstanding source of expertise and guidance in distance education and e-learning throughout the University of London, its member institutions, partner organisations, teaching institutions, and beyond.

The Centre makes a significant contribution to the University's standing as a world-leading university for open, distance and flexible education. The collective expertise of the team includes development and delivery on a range of distance learning and face-to-face programmes from various disciplines including similar teacher-development programmes.
