On this course, you develop essential journalistic skills in a multimedia context. At the same time, you explore key theoretical issues and debates about journalism and news production in relation to contemporary media and society.

You will:
-Master techniques in researching and writing for print and digital media, as well as subediting and print news design
-Contextualise journalistic practice within a theoretical framework of journalism studies
-Understand transitional processes in the news landscape at local, regional and global level
-Understand and be able to analyse current theories and debates surrounding the media and society

How will I study?
You’ll learn through core modules and options in the autumn and spring terms. In the summer term, you work on your dissertation or project.

Assessment is by:
-Term paper
-Practical video/media work
-Portfolios of journalism with critical reflections

The final assessment may take the form of a 15,000-word dissertation or a portfolio of practical and written work.

-Two full fee waivers in conjuction with maintenance support from the British Council

USA Friends Scholarships (2017)
-A scholarship of an amount equivalent to $10,000 for nationals or residents of the USA on a one year taught Masters degree course.
-Application deadline: 3 April 2017

You will be taught and supervised by faculty from the Department of Media and Film. Elements of our degrees are taught by experienced journalists at Brighton Journalist Works.
