You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above.

Your qualification should preferably be in a social sciences or humanities subject; alternatively, you should have relevant professional experience or engagement.

Scholarships

25 scholarships are available in the majority of Sussex Schools, and are awarded on the basis of academic performance and potential. The scholarships are offered for one year.

Eligibility

Have applied for and accepted a place to start a Postgraduate taught degree at the University of Sussex (e.g., MA, MSc, LLM, MRes, Postgraduate Diploma, and Graduate Diploma) excluding certain degrees listed on our website.

Be assessed as liable to pay fees at the "overseas" (namely the non-EU) rate.

Have sufficient funds to meet your tuition fees and living expenses, after taking account of the possible award of a Chancellor's International Scholarship.

Students who hold other University of Sussex scholarships will not be eligible for the Chancellors International Scholarship.

Intend to remain on the programme for which the scholarship is offered.

Application Procedure

To apply for this scholarship you must first have submitted your application to study through the University of Sussex online postgraduate application system.

When you have applied for your course, apply for the scholarship using the application form.

Confirmation of submission will be sent automatically following your submission. If you do not receive this, please ensure that you check your junk/deletion folder for this notification as it may be sent directly to these folders depending on your email security settings.

The closing date for applications to be received is 1 May 2019 23:59:00 BST. Applications received after 1 May 2019 will not be considered.

The University is delighted to offer 100 Masters scholarships to attract the most talented students to study at Sussex. Our awards include enhanced scholarships of £10,000 which are available for 2015 only and standard scholarships of £3,000. The scholarships are available on a competitive basis to UK/EU and non-EU students and confirm Sussex's position as one of the UK's leading universities for postgraduate study. The application deadline is 1st August 2019.

The first allocation of awards will take place in February. Scholarships will be awarded in a number of separate rounds, in February, April, June and August, with successful applicants notified after each round. If you are not immediately successful in being awarded a scholarship, but meet the eligibility criteria, you will automatically be re-considered in the following allocation round alongside any new applications. The final allocation will be after the August deadline, with all remaining decisions notified then.

If you accept a Chancellor's Masters Scholarship you will be required to undertake occasional promotional or support duties for the University of Sussex at times agreed between yourself and the University (e.g. providing text for the prospectus or web page). Schools of study may have specific duties they wish you to assist with.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

hold or expect to achieve a First Class Bachelors degree from a UK university
have applied and received an offer for a full time, eligible Masters degree at Sussex starting in September 2019
submit a separate scholarship application after you have applied for your Masters

The scholarship relates to most full-time taught Masters degree courses at the University of Sussex (e.g. MA, MSc, LLM. MRes) however some courses are excluded, details of which are on the website.

Application Procedure

To be considered for a scholarship you should apply online for an eligible full-time Masters course by 1st August 2019 via the University's postgraduate application system.

To be considered for the scholarship (standard or enhanced), please complete the Chancellor's Masters Scholarship application form by 1 August. You are only required to submit one application, your eligibility for the standard or enhanced award will be assessed if you are made an offer of a scholarship.
