Introducing your course

International law is no longer simply a matter for diplomats and international organisations, but is impacting increasingly on the lives of ordinary citizens. Organisations now have to consider the wider issues of international law, whether in the context of international human rights and conflict resolution, the environment, or in a business and commercial setting. This programme offers an excellent professional development opportunity for those working in, or wishing to move into, specialist areas such as international aid and development, international relations and international security.

Our LLM in International Law is an exceptional opportunity for professional development for those working in, or seeking to move into, specialist areas of international law. Core Module: Dissertation.

Optional Modules: International Law of the Sea, International Trade Law, Commercial Conflict of Laws and International Litigation, International Commercial Arbitration, Carriage by Air, Insurance Law, Fundamentals of Public International Law, Global Trends in Copyright and Trademark Laws, Dispute Settlement in International Law, Enforcement of Intellectual Property rights over the Internet.

Career Opportunities

We have a dedicated Law School careers coordinator who organises a range of careers events and workshops to enhance your employability. These include:

  • the annual Law Careers Fair, which attracts more than 50 law firms and other companies
  • industry seminars presented by major law firms
  • bespoke CV writing and job application workshops

You’ll also be able to take advantage of a range of careers-related activities run by the School’s student-run law societies.

With specialist legal knowledge and exceptional critical, analytical and communication skills, you’ll be well equipped to succeed in your chosen area of law when you graduate. You could work for an international law firm advising public or private sector clients, or go into specialist areas such as international aid and development, international relations, or international security. You’ll also be well placed to enter a range of other sectors in which a broad understanding of international law is an advantage, including central government, journalism, international business and academia.
