International Human Rights Law LLM


Course Description

Entry requirements:
Candidates should normally have a first or good second class honours degree in law OR an equivalent degree where law is a substantial element OR an equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline, OR be qualified as a barrister or solicitor or have an equivalent qualification.

Course aims:
To develop and refine expertise in the selected areas of study; to obtain a critical understanding of relevant legal principles, the policy considerations that underpin them and, as appropriate, their socio-legal, comparative and interdisciplinary contexts; to develop the ability to analyse, interpret and apply a wide range of legal, socio-legal and contextual materials in the solution to complex legal problems; to stimulate your capacity for independent legal research; to enhance skills in oral and written expression.

This stream is intended for those who have an interest in human rights at both an international and national level, and wish to develop that interest through a wide range of academic courses covering a variety of issues related to the theory and practice of human rights.

LLM International Scholarships - 20+ Awards

The School of Law is pleased to announce new scholarships for international students who excel academically in their undergraduate degree.Eligible for international students who achieve a higher final grade than our benchmark entry requirement.International Human Rights Law students are eligible for a scholarship of £2000 if their final benchmark is above a high 2:2 or equivalent. Public International Law students are eligible for a scholarship of £2000 if their final benchmark is above a high 2:2 or equivalent. General Law Programme or the Legal Research Programme students are eligible for a scholarship of £2000 if their final benchmark is above a high 2:2 or equivalent. International Commercial Law programme students are eligible for a scholarship of £1500 if their final benchmark is above a high 2:2 or equivalent. These students may be eligible for a scholarship of £2000 instead, if their qualifying degree is a first or equivalent.

Applicants for the scholarships must hold a valid offer for a place on a campus based LLM programme for 2012.
