International Financial Management with Study Abroad - MSc

Course content

This flexible Masters’ course examines complex financial issues in the international market. From risk management to sustainable strategic decision making, it combines sector relevance with international awareness and self-development to provide you with the essential skills to function as an effective manager, both within the financial sector in the UK and further afield.

Taught in conjunction with the International Financial Management MSc, this 2-year course includes a Study Abroad element, where you spend a semester studying at one of our partner institutions in Europe, Asia or South America.

You will have access to a wide range of facilities to enhance your learning experience including a trading room which features the Bloomberg Terminals used by top traders throughout the world and providing you with access to the latest data, information and analytics to support your studies.

During the final semester you choose to complete the business-focused Masters Consultancy Project or a dissertation.

Teaching And Assessment

The taught modules focus on applying academic theory to real life business situations via tutorial-based activities, case discussion and group-work sessions. The course also includes a residential weekend to strengthen your self-reflection, independent learning and critical thinking skills.

In addition to the six taught modules you will spend a semester overseas, immersing yourself in a new culture and enhancing your career prospects in an international arena.

Your second year includes either a 15,000-word dissertation or the Masters Consultancy Project which gives you an opportunity to work on a business problem or question faced by a real organisation.

Assessment takes the form of personal development planning, group and peer assessments, portfolios and reflective reports as well as traditional exams and essays.
