Founded in 1919 and re-established in 1958, the Anglo-Spanish Society, a UK registered charity, is a non-profit organisation managed by an elected Executive Council with the support of Trustees. Its objectives are to promote friendship and understanding between the peoples of Britain and Spain through the knowledge of each other’s customs, institutions, history and way of life. The Society is proud to be able to provide a number of grants to support university students (undergraduate and postgraduates ), whose studies or research projects are related to the bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and Spain, in any area of academic interestGrants can include allowances for research materials, travel, academic fees and, where appropriate, accommodation. Each grant will be of the order of £3,000, with a likely maximum of £4,500 in special cases.
Career Development Loans are available through a partnership arrangement between the Employment Department and four banks: Barclays, the Clydesdale, the Co-Operative and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Loans are available for vocational courses lasting up to one year.
The Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland have awarded the University of Glasgow with 8 bursaries for academic session 2012-13
A member of staff of a Scottish university must nominate applicants. The Trust also administers a small number of Caledonian Research Foundation Scholarships under similar regulations. Nomination forms are available from the Carnegie Trust.
Awards of varying value are available from this Trust to students who
either:
intend to enter the University of Glasgow or the University of Strathclyde for the first time in September 2011
or:
are first class honours graduates of either University proceeding to second or higher degree study in 2011.
The IMRCEES offers you the unique opportunity to combine a year of study in Glasgow in the UK with a year studying overseas (in English) at one of our renowned partner institutions and leads to the award of a double degree. It is recognised by the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course. Graduates of the programme will be equipped with the skills to address the myriad of socio-economic and political/security challenges of the 21st century in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe and its near/abroad neighbourhood.Value: There are two different forms of scholarships, Category A (non-European applicants) and Category B (European applicants). The scholarships' terms depend on the student's country of origin/residence and main academic and/or professional activity.Scholarship students will receive a fee waiver to cover the difference between the Erasmus Mundus scholarship contribution to participation costs and the actual participation costs. For Category A scholarship students this amounts to a fee waiver of €500 per semester and Category B scholarship students will receive a fee waiver of €250 per semester. The participation costs cover all tuition fees and health insurance; they do not include accommodation as well as other living expenses and travel.

The Postgrad Solutions Study Bursaries offer up to 13 bursaries available over a number of key subject areas for students starting a postgraduate programme in 2012.Eligibility: The subject areas eligible for the bursary are:• 2 for General

The Renfrewshire Educational Trust was established in 1936 through the amalgamation of several specific endowment funds to provide assistance for educational purthose in financial need. The Trust is administered by Renfrewshire Council.The Board of Governors has agreed to make an award of £3,000 in August 2010 to one student who is intending to undertake a one year full time Taught Masters Programme at a university within the United Kingdom. It should be noted that the award must only be used as payment towards course fees and the award will be payable directly to the successful applicant’s university.
This scheme makes annual awards for nine months taught postgraduate diploma courses on largely vocational subjects e.g. information technology, divinity and engineering. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria above.Value: Eligible students can apply for an award consisting of a means tested maintenance grant. Other means tested supplementary allowances are available including reimbursement of travel expenses over £80.00 and payment of tuition fees.
Value: The award pays fees and provides maintenance funding in the form of an income contingent loan. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria above.
Administered in Scotland by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland. These awards are intended to assist with the cost of tuition fees, accommodation and travel. They can be held at a university located within 250 miles of New York City or within the area of Washington DC.Value: Up to 2 Scholarships will be offered of not less than $20,000 each.
The University of Glasgow-Santander Scholarship offers awards of £5000 as a tuition fee discount for our one year postgraduate taught programmes for 2012/13.

Scholars are required to pay their own travel expenses. A limited amount of scholarships may be awarded for periods of not less than four months.Value: Award level can vary subject to interview performance.

The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from select developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies, in order to prepare them for employment, primarily within the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
The Foundation gives priority to requests for Master's level courses but may consider applications for PhD programmes, in the case of outstanding students who are highly recommended for doctoral studies by their professors and who need a PhD for the fulfilment of their career objectives (academic or research oriented).
Applications for short-term courses are not considered; neither are applications from students who have already started their course of study.To be eligible applicants must
- Be nationals of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique. May also be considered those originally from these countries but currently living in France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada, who are interested in development-related studies and who have no other means of financing their education.
- Demonstrate consistently excellent academic records
- Show evidence of genuine financial need
- Have obtained admission to a highly reputable university or programme of study
- Establish relevance of the field of study to AKDN’s focus areas
- Provide thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans, their extra-curricular interests and achievements, potential to achieve their goals and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment.
- Have some years of work experience in their field of interest.Preference is given to students under 30 years of age.Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis.
The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses only. The cost of travel is not included in AKF scholarships. Funding for PhD programmes is only provided for the first two years of study, after which the students are expected to find alternative sources of assistance. Financial assistance is provided according to the needs of students, but the International Scholarship Programme must be considered a lender of last resort. Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources.

The College of Social Sciences has introduced scholarships, available to graduates of McGill University who apply to the Masters programme at the University of Glasgow, commencing in September 2016. The scholarships will be awarded as a tuition fee waiver.
The University of Glasgow award a total of 40 postgraduate scholarships worth £5,000. Scholarships are available to students entering any of the University’s colleges and are awarded as a tuition fee discount.
The University of Glasgow offer 52 University Trust International Leadership scholarships to international (non-EU) students starting a postgraduate taught Masters programme in any discipline. 12 awards worth £10,000 and 40 awards worth £5000 will be awarded as a tuition fees discount.
