This programme is designed to assist you in gaining a professional financial qualification, and equip you with knowledge essential for a successful career in financial analysis, investment management and allied financial services.

Why this programme

◾This programme covers the first-level syllabus of the CFA Institute and will help you obtain the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute Charter and a professional career in financial services.
◾You will benefit from expert teaching, using the latest materials across a carefully chosen range of courses, informed by cutting-edge research in the area of international financial analysis.
◾Our staff have close connections to the accounting and finance profession, for example, serving on the Accounting Standards Board, as Advisor to the House of Lords, as well as on various committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Our staff also act as advisors to the Economic & Social Sciences Research Council, the Hong Kong Research Grants Council and the Canadian Social Science and Humanities Research Council.
◾By the end of the programme, you will be able to explain the treasury function of multinational companies, analyse the way in which businesses respond to issues of financing and investment, explain and analyse the functioning of the principal capital markets, and the features of the main products traded on these markets.

Programme structure

You will take five core and one optional course, and complete a substantial independent piece of work, normally in the form of a dissertation.

It is particularly suitable if you wish to pursue a professional career in areas including equity research, sell-side analysis and fund management.
