The MSc in International Festivals and Tourism Management programme has been designed to provide a vocational, personal and intellectually challenging education for those wishing to enhance their knowledge and skills in festival and tourism management within a global market. This postgraduate course is ideal for existing managers and those with an appropriate undergraduate education who wish to aspire to a career in the dynamic and increasingly recognised area of international festivals and tourism management. Modern day tourism trends and analysis illustrate the competitive environment within which changing tourist attraction provision and expansion can be successfully delivered.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND ASSESSMENT
Students will find the teaching and learning environment worthwhile and challenging. The learning environment is organised to ensure that key concepts, theories, and where appropriate, practices relevant to management in the hospitality and tourism industry form a central role in teaching and learning.
Assessment includes reports, essays, presentations and seminar papers and for those completing the Master of Science Programme, a Dissertation.
-Develop your ability to critically assess knowledge and understanding of business and management theory within the context of the academic study of tourism and festivals and improve business and management practices within tourism and festivals -Prepare and develop you for a career in tourism and, or, festivals or a related occupation by developing professional and transferable skills -Develop and extend your critical understanding of the theoretical and management issues underpinning the study of tourism and festivals and related areas -Develop your ability to undertake independent, critical and substantive research and investigation within the area of international festivals and tourism
This is a 12 month programme comprising three parts. The first two parts are the taught element and the final part is consists of research and writing the dissertation element. For full-time students, the taught element is normally completed over a nine month period starting in October. Part-time students will normally attend on a one day a week basis and complete the taught element in two years. Students who complete the taught element of the programme, in part or in its entirety, may graduate with either a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in International Festivals and Tourism Management.
Students wishing to complete the MSc in International Festivals and Tourism Management must complete the research element, which comprises of a dissertation. Full-time students will normally complete this in the three months that follow the taught element, whilst part-time students complete this during the course of an academic session.
Work experience opportunities are available for students during non-teaching time within a range of different roles in the service sector management industry.
