MA International Cultural Heritage Management

I have been working as a consultant with Piramal Art Foundation in India. After completing the MA, I simultaneously formed a society in the city of Bhavnagar (Gujarat) called Bhavnagar Heritage Preservation Society. The society is a citizen-led initiative focusing on the preservation, protection and promotion of tangible and intangible heritage in Bhavnagar, India.
My experience of studying in Durham has influenced my overall development and helped me streamline my professional practice tremendously. Community engagement and involvement in Lumbini, Nepal during my placement has influenced and inspired me to start the Bhavnagar Heritage Preservation Society back home in India. Site visits and the all-day management modules that the course offered have not only helped me develop my communication and financial skills in my professional life but also in my personal life.
Time in Durham flew by too quickly. Some of my fondest memories include the presentations and the heritage trips that we embarked upon. The trips were a great way to see and understand different cultural and natural heritage sites. I was also lucky to get my placement in Lumbini, Nepal. The entire experience was a great way to interact and learn from some of the best professionals and academics in the field! The atmosphere in the university was warm, welcoming and intellectually stimulating! And of course, who would not miss the chaos and community bonding that went on while shuffling tight deadlines!
