Intercultural Business Communication MSc

Course Description

Effective communication is a vital skill in any field of employment. Increasingly, intercultural communication in business contexts is recognised as crucial in multicultural societies and in the more competitive globalised business world. With an increasing number of international and transnational companies established in both developing and developed countries, there is a demand for future business people to be able to communicate effectively in intercultural
business settings.

•Specialise in intercultural communication to develop skills that can be used in potentially global business and professional contexts
•Learn and collaborate in an international environment to enhance your future national or international career
•Combine theory, practice and work experience for intercultural communication
•Work in an optional placement at a British company or organisation and gain a certificate proving your intercultural work experience
•This flexible course allows you to study alongside work, and enhance your existing skills and knowledge in your current business or organisation
•Supported by the Centre for Intercultural Research in Communication and Learning (CIRCL), you will have access
•to national and international expertise from a range of intercultural research backgrounds

This course is managed by the Centre for Intercultural Research in Communication and Learning (CIRCL) which brings together expertise, skills and strengths from across three faculties (Business and Law; Art, Design and Humanities; and CIRCL) to provide a unique learning experience. This inter-disciplinary approach will enable you to gain knowledge and practical skills to achieve intercultural communication competence in global business contexts. The content of the programme aims to enhance your ability of intercultural awareness and understanding, the use of professional language, confidence in communication, understanding and practising operations in international business related contexts.

Entry Requirements

An honours degree (an equivalent of a British honours degree at 2:2 or above) or an overseas equivalent, in a relevant field. Working experience is not essential, but is desirable.If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent is essential, with writing and speaking skills at no less than IELTS 6.0. Free English language tuition delivered by our British Council-accredited Centre for English Language Learning is available both before and during the course.
