About the course

This course offers a detailed insight in law, management and policy relating to patents, copyright, trademarks and other intellectual property rights.

It provides international and comparative perspectives that cover not only traditional intellectual property issues like industrial property, artistic works and brands, but emerging areas of policy including the digital economy and biotechnology.

This programme reflects the growing importance of international developments in intellectual property, and confronts growing controversies such as the relationships between intellectual property and human rights norms, access to knowledge, new technologies and economic development.

A bachelor degree with a 2:1 (hons) in law. Applicants with good degrees in other subjects will be considered.

Scholarships

Conditions
-If your scholarship application is successful you must confirm acceptance within two weeks of notification of the award.
-You must commence your study with us by registering no later than 1 October in the academic year for which the award is offered.
-Those in receipt of an award via one of the School's collaborative agreements are not eligible.
-Scholarship offers cannot be deferred.

How are the scholarships awarded?
These scholarships will be awarded in a competitive process on the basis of academic performance in your undergraduate degree plus the strength of your supporting statement accompanying your scholarship application.

Further information
A Liberty Scholarship will not be awarded in addition to any other scholarship except a University of Leeds Alumni Bursary.

Value of Scholarship(s)

£3,000 towards UK/EU tuition fees

Eligibility

To be considered for the scholarship you must:

-Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for a School of Law Taught Masters programme for 2020 entry.
-Demonstrate an excellent previous academic track record.
-Demonstrate the potential to contribute to the academic and cultural life of the School of Law.
-Be classed as “UK/EU” for fee purposes.
