Course content

Whatever their product or service, their aims or agendas, any large organisation today counts on the systems that move, store and process information in one form or another. This course will help you master those systems.

With us, you’ll explore databases, object oriented programming, systems analysis, networks, digital media systems and information systems strategy. It’s a conversion course, designed to let you move into the field from another discipline or – if you’ve already made a start on your career in this area – to develop vital skills to drive your professional progression.

To start with, you’ll learn the principles and practice of object oriented and web programming, how to develop and support digital media systems development, and the key aspects of strategic and project management in this field.

Then you can chart your own direction – choosing to study a topic like mobile computing or emerging enterprise technology, before you tackle your masters project. You’ll have plenty of support along the way, but it’s a solo project designed to develop confidence, autonomy and self-sufficiency – qualities that can take you far in the workplace.

So, by the time you leave us, you’ll be ready to develop programmes, analyse systems, harness databases, manage IS projects and lead strategic planning. In other words, you’ll be equipped for a wide range of roles within information systems.
