Independent Prescribing Conversion Programme for Pharmacists

University of Reading School of Pharmacy

About the course

We offer an independent prescriber conversion course for pharmacists already working as supplementary prescribers. The programme comprises teaching and learning, which include taught days, self-directed study time, assessment and workplace-based learning (the 15 hours of learning in practice).

Pharmacists studying the programme will be assessed at level 7, the programme does not award any academic credits.

Applicants can choose between studying on a weekday (Thursdays), or on a weekend for those who want a more flexible study arrangement. Applicants must attend one study day at the University, the remaining teaching and assessment is then completed via distance learning.

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) will be withdrawing the option for the University to offer this programme
