iMBA (Online)

Course Description

The iMBA model has been called a breakthrough, disruptive in the classic business sense of the term: Online delivery that makes a traditionally offline service less expensive and more accessible without compromising quality.

The iMBA tuition is about $20,000. That’s one-third to one-fourth comparable programs. The iMBA is also fully online, with no residency requirement and no travel costs. The combination of reasonable tuition and access from wherever works best for students with life and work obligations or who live in remote locations–it makes top-quality education more accessible to more top-quality people.

Program Details
The iMBA is a program designed to fuel you with what it takes for both immediate impact and long-lasting career lift. For both managerial fundamentals and taking your performance to senior executive levels. And for building out your future-forward capacities and value creation prowess with special training in innovation and mindsets for adapting business to a technologically shifting world. It’s an MBA from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, but it’s also a disruptive design of carefully curated content and learning experiences for the online world.

Future-forward leadership: The iMBA puts strategic leadership and management at the core. Then you build out your leadership-level sophistication choosing from courses and tools that develop prowess to lead innovation, shape the digital future, and stay ahead of the curve on globalization.

Global classroom: You’ll be part of a global classroom with high-performance peers from around the world. Fellow students bring you insights from the front lines in real time. You study with top University of Illinois faculty from the College of Business, and sometimes with faculty from the University’s other top-ranked colleges and academic departments as well. We also add executives from top companies like Google to the mix.

Specialization-driven: The iMBA organizes content into self-contained packages we call specializations, with each specialization being an area of business you need to master in order to be an effective leader. As you complete a specialization, you’re ready for immediate impact in that area. Ultimately the specializations come together as a complete MBA, a complete leadership package.

The program is delivered 100% online. It includes live classes and collaboration with classmates for project work. Faculty hold regular online office hours, as well, and there are various other ways students are linked, including active forums and social media plus things like our own television program, iMBA Week.

Courses include lectures, case studies, and project work. There are two levels of each course, a level-one segment that provides foundational knowledge and is self-directed on an open platform, and a level-two advanced segment with more intensive interactivity on a closed platform for Illinois graduate students only.

The iMBA is a new program and, as such, is not yet ranked. The first class started in late 2015. The University of Illinois and its MBA program are both ranked among the top 50 in the United States.
