About the course

Overview

Build on your UK business experience and prepare to pursue a career in the HR industry. Our highly practical course offers workplace placements and regular opportunities to engage with the business world as you apply your learning in industry.

This accredited course reflects current practice and HR thinking in the UK and Europe. During your degree you’ll study areas including leadership, learning and development, and employment relations, and explore topical issues such as toxic leadership structures and sustainable business practices.

Entry Requirements

A second-class honours degree or equivalent in any academic subject and seeking to pursue/continue an HR career. Applicants with Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Level 3 or Level 5 and/or candidates with appropriate work experience will also be considered. Applicants are subject to interview.

English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0

Scholarships

The Portsmouth Business School offers a scholarship programme for students who are commencing postgraduate study at the Business School. This comprises a limited number of awards to self-funding Home and European Union students. The scholarship will be in the form of a 40% discount from any tuition fees due after any other discounts such as the 20% discount for Portsmouth alumni or partial payments by sponsors.

Additionally there is an International Student Bursaries scheme.

Eligibility

You're fully self-funded
You have UK or EU nationality
You've been offered a place on a campus-based full or part-time 180 credit postgraduate course, excluding distance learning or 'top-up' courses
You've achieved, or are predicted to achieve, a 2:1 from your undergraduate degree, or have significant, relevant managerial or professional work experience (if you're awarded a scholarship but don't achieve a 2:1 when you get your results, you won't be eligible)
You haven't started your postgraduate course at the University of Portsmouth
