Course content

Overview

Our MSc in Human Resource Management and Consulting provides a solid foundation in general business management and specialist human resource management knowledge. You will develop skills in consulting and combine theory with practical application through organisational challenges.

Why study Human Resource Management and Consulting? 

This course is designed for graduates who want to develop key managerial skills and are interested in a career in human resource management or consultancy.

Course structure

Our MSc in Human Resource Management and Consulting is a full-time degree that lasts 12 months. It is divided into two semesters and the summer period which runs from June to September. In Semester 1 you will study five compulsory units. In Semester 2, you will study one compulsory unit and select four from an approved selection. 

Semester 1 core units

Marketing; Business economics; Human resource management; Cross-cultural management; Consulting: context, theory and practice

Semester 2 core unit

Methods of management research for HRM and consultancy

Example optional units: 

Design in management; Understanding employment law; Management consulting: data driven approaches; Project management; Strategy and human resource management; Leading and managing change; Strategies for sustainability; Global governance and accountability

Dissertation

The course will finish with a dissertation. This is a 10,000-15,000 word piece of individual research, supervised by a member of faculty. You will plan and execute your own project, using techniques learned throughout the year.
