What did receiving this scholarship mean to you?
This scholarship opened many doors for me. It allowed me to pursue higher education and strengthened me in my field. My family is proud of me and it gave me a sense of security. I am truly thankful for it.
What do you like best about your course?
It is quite a shift of environment from where I have been previously. It was overwhelming initially and I was confused. But the staff, professors and my colleagues were very supportive and approachable. I love the practicality of the course in view of complexity of the public health scenario globally. The course has helped me to thin-slice vast amounts of information and developed in me a degree of public health acumen. During the end of the first semester I also wrote a Christmas healthy cooking blog for the University and shall continue to write more.
Does anything surprise you about your course or London Met?
The University in itself is quite dynamic and gives a flavour of London. I am amazed by the opportunities for students and alumni to work and grow further with the University. It truly stands for its name – combining a variety of people, culture and ideas. The support system offered by each department is strong.
What do you like about life in London?
I love life in London! It is a fast-paced city with the best shopping areas and restaurants. It is a living mixture of old and new with so many traditions. It is the best place to intermingle and have a lifetime learning experience.
What are your career plans once you complete your course?
After completing my course, I wish to pursue PhD or work in public health research. The outcome of whatever I learn is to strengthen and serve society at large.
