About the course

The MA in History of Art at the University of Birmingham offers a broad range of topics all relating to staff research interests and expertise. Modules, which are all on a rotating schedule, include ‘Inside Out’ (which looks at Parisian interiors in the nineteenth century), ‘Postcolonial Readings of Contemporary Art’ and modules covering art up to the present day. Students also have access to world-renowned galleries and museums on campus as part of their learning experience.

Entry Requirements

You will need an Honours degree in History of Art or a cognate Humanities subject, of an upper second-class standard or higher (or its academic equivalent). Candidates holding degrees in other disciplines (e.g. broader Arts subjects) will only be considered if they can demonstrate interest and experience in History of Art, e.g. through studying relevant modules and/or undertaking related work experience.
