Management and leadership within the health and social care sector have become increasingly important themes worldwide in recent years, with the World Health Organisation (WHO 2007) highlighting the need for managers to have appropriate competencies and the NHS promoting specific values and principles of care (DH 2010), reiterated through the outcomes of the NHS Mid Staffordshire enquiry (Francis, 2013). This course has been designed specifically to ensure that as a manager in this setting - either in the UK or overseas – you develop the knowledge, skills and emotional tools you need to meet or exceed these requirements and develop your full potential as a manager and/or a leader. You’ll explore the important social and other factors which influence managing and leading both organisations and individuals, learning with other current and aspiring managers and leaders from a range of health and social care organisations from around the world.
